MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES EXPLAINED

 

Accompanists – Playing the piano or another instrument during a worship service.

 

Assimilation Ministry Team – Welcome new people into the church.  Look for those who appear lost in the building.  Provide information, answer questions, introduce to others, invite to events, and deliver a gift to new attendees.  Responsible for scheduling and training greeters for worship and special events.

 

Banner Making – Helping or leading in the making of banners for the sanctuary and Fellowship Hall.

 

Building Facilitator – Prepares the church for Sunday morning worship.  Responsibilities include, unlocking doors, turning on lights, heaters or air conditioning.

 

Building Maintenance – Utilizing your talents and skills to provide regular maintenance and upkeep of the physical property of the church.  Working under the direction of the Building Engineer.

 

Card Ministry – Send cards to those who would appreciate they have been thought of.

 

Children’s Time – Assist in leading a lesson and activity for children.

 

Christian Education Ministry Team – Empowering teachers for Sunday school and VBS.  Assists the youth programs, education budget, evaluate curriculums and the use of church facilities for Christian Education events.

 

Choir – Lifting up your voice by praising God through singing.

 

Church Clerk – Keeps a record of all church business meetings and keeps a record of church members.

 

Congregational Board – A desire to work on a team who interact with the community, the church and the pastor.  Assists the pastor to move the mission and vision forward.

 

Drama Ministry Team – Practicing and preparing skits to be performed during worship.

 

Finance Ministry Team – Prepare an annual budget, monitor the expenses as compared to giving, approve fund raising projects and unbudgeted expenditures.  Providing Financial Secretary with necessary information and equipment to perform their responsibilities.

 

Financial Secretary – Responsible for procuring the offering and depositing it in the bank.  Keeping a record of monies received.

 

Greeters – Welcoming people who attend worship and other special events.

 

Helping Hands – Preparing a meal for people who are in need of meals.

 

Hospitality Ministry Team – Responsible for serving refreshments after worship and special events.  Set up, preparation, maintenance and clean up of kitchen is also included.

 

Membership Ministry Team – Responsible for contacting and visiting those who are no longer regularly attending worship and church events.  Become a listening ear for concerns and encourage people to rededicate themselves to Jesus.  In addition, assist in distributing money from the Fellowship Fund.

 

Memorial / Flower Ministry Team – Preparing the church for a luncheon after a funeral, and ensuring that the church is appropriately decorated according to the season.  Designating appropriate use of memorial money.  Sending flowers to members upon the death of an immediate family member.

 

Mission Ministry Team – Initiate and promote special mission offerings and opportunities for our church to serve in missions.

 

Moderator – Presides at all regular or special meetings of the church.

 

Associate Moderator – Is mentored by the Moderator to assume that position during the Moderator’s absence and to ultimately assume this ministry position.

 

Music Ministry – A willingness to share your gift of music during a worship service through special music.

 

Nursery Ministry Team – To provide care and nurture to infants and toddlers in the nursery during worship and special events.  To provide coverage in the nursery with individuals who are committed to showing Christian love to the young children.

 

Nursery Assistant – Designed for youth to assist the lead nursery worker.

 

 

 

 

Outreach Ministry Team – A passion to investigate and implement ways in which our church can demonstrate Christ’s love within our community.

 

Pew Cleaner – Designed for youth.  Help clean the pews immediately after worship.  Pick up bulletins, inserts, communion cups from pews and pew pockets.  Place hymnals and Bibles in the pew pockets.

 

Photographer – Taking pictures of various church events, for inclusion on web-site, newspapers, and periodic ministry celebrations.

 

Praise Team – Lead the congregation praising God in worship through song and prayer.

 

Prayer Team – Actively pray for the needs of the church and plan special prayer meetings.

 

Property Team – Oversee church property; protect, manage and maintain.  Establish written policies for the use of the building.

 

Public Relations – Using your gifts and talents so that church events receive news coverage in our community.

 

Sign Changer - Participate in changing the church sign located in front of the church, once per month.

 

Small Group Leader – Persons will lead a small group Bible Study or discipleship group.

 

Sound Tech. – Make certain sound system is ready for worship and special services.  Determine who needs microphones during the event.

 

Speaker at Worship – Person who believes they are gifted and desires to share their testimony from the pulpit.

 

Sunday School Teacher – A desire to teach the youth of the church the message of Jesus Christ.

Sunday School Substitute – Willing to lead a class when the regular teacher is not able to be present.

 

Treasurer – Keeps a record of church funds, prepares monthly statements of offerings received and disbursements.

   Assistant Treasurer – Performs duties of the treasurer if the treasurer is away or incapacitated.

 

Usher – Will greet people as they enter the sanctuary and pass out bulletins, being available to assist those with special needs, before, during and after worship.  Ushers will also come forward during the time of the offering in order to pass the collection plates to each row.

 

Vacation Bible School Teacher – Being the lead teacher in a VBS class.

Vacation Bible School Helper – Assist lead teacher in the class.

Vacation Bible School Crafts – Help prepare crafts for the youth.

 

Visitation Ministry Team – Visit shut-ins, those in the hospital, in-active and new attendees.  Attend training sessions to better understand the dynamics of visitation.  This team will include the Card Ministry.

 

Webmaster – Design and upkeep the church web-site.

 

Worship Leader – Assist the pastor in leading the worship.  Writing and leading the congregation in prayers and scripture readings.

 

Worship Ministry Team – Assist in planning worship services which are relevant to our church and community.  Facilitates Baptism and Lord’s Supper; preservation and  maintenance of worship furnishings and decorations.

 

Youth Ministry Team – An enthusiasm for the youth and children of the church.  To encourage and participate in the life of the youth of our church.  Organize and train youth volunteers.  Design and plan midweek ministry opportunities, recreational, retreats and Outreach events.  Plan, budget and encourage the youth in our church.

 

Youth Volunteer – Assist in leading programs which are designed to promote spiritual growth and Christian living.
